OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
ONE TRINUE GOD We believe in one God, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The triune God is one in essence, the creator and sustainer of the universe. We believe in God’s absolute power and eternal grace which are behind God’s revelation of His character, the salvation of man and the judgment of the world. 1. Cor. 8:6. Deut 6:4, Mat 28:19,20, 2 Cor 13:14. THE HOLY SPIRIT There is one Spirit who illuminates, renews, indwells and sanctifies believers in Christ. Since Pentecost, God’s Holy Spirit is a permanent help for believers in living out their salvation. Rom 8:9; 1 Jn 2:20,27; 1. Cor 2:6-16; 12:13. OUR BOOK We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word and the supreme and trustworthy source for faith and practice. Mat 5:17-20, Yu 10:35; 2 Tim 3:16, 2.Pet 1:20-21 MAN Man was created as God's image in this world. Man is not the result of impersonal processes; man is a purposeful creation of God. Man as a person can think, feel and choose. God created both male and female equally as His image. Man as God's image is valuable to God and deserves respect from other men simply on that basis alone, not on man's race, production, education, etc. Man was created for relationship with God, nature and other men. Sin has ruined the relationships and marred the image. Gen 1:26-28; Ps 8; 139:13-16 MANKIND’S PROBLEM: SIN The whole of mankind has sinned and falls short of God’s glory. They used their free will not to obey but to oppose God’s grace. They are therefore guilty and stand judged before God’s justice. Man can overcome sin only by being born from above, not by anything me might do (worship, good works, education, etc) Rom 1:18-32: 5:12-21; 7:13-25; Jer 17:9, Eph 2:1-3. SALVATION FROM SIN God’s eternal Word, in accordance with God’s justice and complete love, became a man as the solution to man’s problem. Jesus Christ is God’s Word in human form. God’s son (spiritually, not physically) died as the propitiation for man’s sins on the cross, was raised from the dead 3 days later and ascended to heaven. He is the completely perfect, authoritative and only solution to man’s sin. The one who is cleansed by His blood has new life. Sinful man can only be justified and receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ who died and was raised from the dead. Salvation is only through God’s grace. Acts 4:12; Jn 3:16, 36; 1 Tim 2:5; Gal 3:13; 1 Pet 3:18; Eph 2:8-9. THE CHURCH Everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior becomes part of the Lord’s community (the church), His body. This community of believers has Jesus Christ as its head, is united in one hope, one body, one spirit and one baptism. As a Christian (one who imitates Jesus) they are part of the universal church. 1. Cor 12:12-26; Eph 2:11-3:13, 4:4-6. END TIMES The Lord Jesus Christ, at the end of the world, will return again to take his believers to be with Him, judge the world and rule eternally. 1. Thess 4:13-5:10; Jn 14:1,2; Rev 19-22. |
